Inspired By…Selena Gomez

Selena Gomez was a huge Disney Channel star, best known for her starring role on Wizard’s of Waverly Place.  I like to consider her as part of Disney’s Holy Trinity, consisting of her, Miley Cyrus, and Demi Lovato.  The three were unstoppable.

While Demi went off to fight her own demons and Miley tried to act older, Selena stayed on Disney for a while, and has just come onto her own.  Now, you know her best for dating Justin Bieber and singing catchy pop songs.

And as Selena has strayed from Disney, so has her fashion choices.  She’s gone away from the cutesy dresses and instead has gone for edgier looks.  So, when trying to dress like Selena, if you’re going for sweet, choose muted colors and simple silhouettes.  But, if you’re going for edgy, think of bright colors and vampy tops.

In this first look, Selena’s on a red carpet for LA Fashion Week in 2009.  This outfit is perfect for class, so to copy this plaid look, grab a plaid dress, some black tights, a silver ring, and a pair of flats.

This second look is an example of the new edgier Selena.  For a spicy night on the town, copy this look!  Choose a floral bralet, a tan miniskirt, and a pair of hot pink shoes for a boost of color.  Also, go with gold accessories, like a ring and earrings, to complement the outfit.

This final look is absolutely perfect for date night!  Select a silky purple tank top, a black blazer, a black skirt, and some black strappy shoes.  Copy Selena’s jeweled belt and purple clutch for the perfect look.

Selena’s style is an easy one to copy!  And I love that she’s not afraid to go from super sweet to positively edgy.  You can copy Selena’s style whether you’re sugary sweet or edgy to the core.  So, which celebrity’s styles are you most influenced by?  And which celebrity’s style would you like to see next on an “Inspired By…” post?  Tweet us your thoughts @TheFashionFoot.
