Inspired By… Aubrey Plaza
Aubrey Plaza is best known for her sarcastic and dry comedy.
The 28-year-old actress started her career as an NBC page, before she began performing improv and sketch comedy at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre in 2004. However, she’s best known for her role as the deadpan employee April Ludgate on Parks and Recreation. Aubrey made it into the headlines very recently with her odd behavior at the 2013 MTV Movie Awards, where she attempted to steal the Comedic Genius Award from recipient Will Ferrell. Will acted with grace, and pretended the moment occurring had been practiced, Aubrey was kicked out in the end for her erratic action.
But, aside from acting weird most of the time, Aubrey has become a bit of a fashion star to us “weird” girl’s out there. Her love for floral prints, little cardigans, and heels is endearing. So when trying to dress like Aubrey, don’t be scared to embrace your inner flower child or take a walk on the weird side.
In this first look, Aubrey is featured in a spread for Complex Magazine. To copy her modern pin-up look, select a pair of jean high waisted shorts, floral tank top or crop top, low wedge heels, and tan crossbody bag.
This second look is of Aubrey at the AFI Fest’s premiere of Life of Pi. For a fashionable and chic dinner outfit, go with black cigarette pants, black tank top, sheer or see-through blouse, and black heels.
In this final look, Aubrey is at the Damsels in Distress premiere. If you’re interested in copying Aubrey’s color-block dress for a night look, go with a shift or body-con green and pink color-blocked dress, nude heels, and a nude crossbody bag.
Aubrey Plaza is one of my favorite female comedians. Although she comes across as a little odd, her work as April on Parks and Rec is brilliant! But what I also like about the sarcastic actress is her fashion sense! I love that she’s not afraid of color and works that floral print like there’s no tomorrow. If you’re looking for inspiration on how to be the hippest and weirdest girl around, think Aubrey!
