Diane Von Furstenberg Opens Archives
One of my favorite designers is Diane Von Furstenberg. A self-made woman who was once a princess and now is the head of a fashion empire and President of the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA). She’s also the inventor of the wrap dress, a dress that accentuates every woman’s body. The wrap dress has just recently hit it’s 40th birthday and as a way to honor the anniversary, Diane Von Furstenberg has opened her archives for the first time ever.
With the help of a fashion consultant, Natalie Joos Diane is working on a commemorative project that includes not only a photo shoot but a film of both her past and present looks. The film is to be called, ‘Playing in Diane’s Closet’ and will feature models, Tali Lennox, Lila Love and Elizabeth Gilpin. When asked about her secret to success, Diane Von Furstenberg said, “I define success by my ability to express myself and be true to myself – it is my mission in life to empower women, through fashion, through mentoring and through philanthropy, every collection is an opportunity to do that, and I feel lucky and like a success for that, because I am doing what I love and I am so inspired by women.
