Karl Lagerfeld Sued by New Balance

Athletic shoe company New Balance is suing Karl Lagerfeld.

A lawsuit, which was recently obtained by entertainment site TMZ, details New Balance’s complaint against the Chanel designer.

New Balance claims that a pair of tennis shoes from Lagerfeld’s eponymous line has caused confusion for consumers. The shoe in question is described as looking very similar, minus a block capital “K,” which is in place of New Balance’s famous “N” logo.

The brand has been using their logo since the Seventies, and listed fashion articles that question if Lagerfeld knocked off New Balance, as evidence of copyright infringement in their case.
