What to Wear to Midnight Movie Premiers

Summer is nearly here, which means big blockbusters are going to start premiering almost daily.

Since it’s summer, you and your friends can sacrifice some sleep and go to the midnight showings, which are always the most fun. Some die-hard fans go all out and will dress in full costume; however, not everyone wants to watch a movie while looking like a replica of the Iron Man.

On the flip side though, if you’re going to the midnight premier and show up repping your university’s logo, that’s not really getting into the spirit of the premier.

So what to do? How do you compromise and wear something that you feel comfortable in and still celebrate the movie you’re going to go see?

Suppose you’re going to see Jurassic World: How do you dress up for that premier without renting a dinosaur costume?

Think of what you would wear to your high school’s “safari day” during spirit week. Cute khaki shorts or pants and a linen button up of some kind works. Feeling really crazy? Add a hat that matches your pants and you’re good to go!

Ant-Man is coming out this summer and it’s more than understandable if you don’t want to dress in full Ant-Man garb. In situations like this—or really whenever you want to dress up but not go all-out—it’s easiest to go for the color scheme.

Ant-Man dresses in navy blue and red. Throw on a pair of jeans and a top that has some red in it, and boom! You’re comfortable, cute, and festive.

Never sacrifice feeling good about what you’re wearing; if you don’t want to go crazy dressing up, then there are more subtle—yet still cool and appropriate—ways to dress the part and have fun.
