Heels You’ll Want To Stay In All Night
https://edanafashion.wordpress.com/wp-admin/edit-tags.php?taxonomy=post_tagI’m sure most of you have had the dreadful experience of finding a magnificent pair of high heels–picture perfect on the rack–but when you decided to take them for a test drive at a night-long cocktail party, you came home with feet so swollen and bruised it was hard to imagine ever being able to wear them again. I know this has been a problem of mine for years now, and I’ve wondered if there would ever truly be a pair of heels that cared just as much about comfort as it did appearance. For a while, I considered being a full on flats-only woman. But I’d be lying if I said it wasn’t like being a vegetarian when you’re a die-hard meat lover. We shouldn’t have to alter our fashion choices based on whether we’ll survive the night in them. It’s important to feel confident and look your best, but you shouldn’t have to torture yourself for hours on end to achieve this effect.
Problem solved! Over the past week or so I’ve done a research experiment at my favorite department stores in the area. I found that indeed a lot of the heels on display were bearable for no more than 45 minutes to an hour. However, physics is absolutely involved in choosing a pair that won’t shatter your foot. First off, platform soles are a must if you’re wearing stilettos. For example, the pair of Christian Laboutins in your closet with no support to balance that six inch heel? Probably best to save those for your family’s holiday party hosted in your house. Or for somewhere you’re going to be sitting most of the time. Fashion tip: if you absolutely must wear these to that hot new nightclub, or to your crush’s dinner party, make sure you bring a back up pair of cute flats that will rescue your feet without ruining your outfit (or you could be super bold and pack some foot liners). Secondly, a skinny heel with no platform sole has to be no more than 4 to 4.5 inches to maintain that comfort level for more than an hour. Lastly, when it comes to straps, they are your best friends. No matter the height or support, the more the merrier. Straps are there to keep you grounded. Just make sure they’re not too tight, as this cuts off circulation in the ankles and feet and makes for an even more painful experience.
Take a look at some of the chicest options this season that match in coziness. They’ll make you wonder why on earth you bought those new Manolos yesterday.
My suggestion? Run over to Saks immediately and stock up based on these new findings! You’ll never come home miserable again.
