Trend Alert: Skirts: Asymmetric & Ruffled Pencil

It’s never too cold to wear a skirt, even if you can’t show off your legs under it! Asymmetric skirts and ruffled pencil skirts are in season and the good news is you can layer them over some warm and fuzzy leggings or tights.

Asymmetric skirts can be long and boho chic or mini leather ones for a sexy night out. The slightly irregular geometric shape makes it distinctive and adds a certain pizazz to your outfit. They look great with anything, try knitted sweaters, fur vests, or for a night out match it with a loose silk top, tuck it in and add some bold necklaces.

Tip: If you have a pencil skirt, or any long skirt lying around, cut a pointed triangle off the hem and you can get this asymmetric style out of your own closet instead of paying for one!

Ruffled pencil skirts are good in black and for the office. This is the new and improved pencil skirt so add some fun to that dull business suit. The way the ruffles adorn the skirt gives it a sophisticated, dressed-up look so it’s best to wear it to formal events as opposed to casual events. Wear it to work with a fitted blazer as long as it doesn’t cover the ruffles, or to a wedding with a different colored blouse, some pearls and tights in hues that match your skin tone.
