Inspired By…Coco Rocha
Coco Rocha is one of the edgiest fashion models on the scene.
The 25-year-old Canadian model entered the modeling industry when she was approached by a modeling scout in 2002, at the young age of 14. Coco started her professional career in 2004, signing with SUPREME in New York City. Just two years later, she was featured in an editorial spread with Gemma Ward and Amanda Moore, which kickstarted her career. Coco next appeared on the cover of the February 2006 cover of Vogue Italia, and walked in several shows at both New York Fashion Week and Paris Fashion Week. Since then, the leggy model has appeared on several covers of various international publications, including Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, and W. Coco is also known for appearing on Naomi Campbell’s modeling competition show, The Face, and in February 2014, she was named Model of the Year at the Canadian Arts and Fashion Show Awards.
Of course, with being a model, Coco has access to tons of fantastic clothes that us non-models and celebrities can only dream of. In her own personal style, Coco tends to lean heavily towards an edgy look, opting to wear dark colors, tight pants, and lots of boots. She’s also a fan of animal print and likes sporting interesting jackets. So think dark colors, boots, and animal prints when trying to emulate Coco Rocha!
In this first look, Coco is at New York Fashion Week in September 2011. For an edgy casual outfit, select a black basic tank top, a black vest, red leopard printed pants or leggings, and black mid heel ankle boots. Keep everything to a minimum with this look to ensure the red pants stand out.
This second look features Coco at another New York Fashion Week, this time in February 2014. Use this unique outfit as inspiration for a different approach to a dinner look. Go with a white top with some sort of distinctive detail (here, the vegan leather trim), black skater skirt, black platform heels, and a black wristlet. Add black tights for a more formal look.
In this final look, Coco is at the 2014 Diane von Furstenberg Journey of a Dress Exhibition. To copy this chic look for a night on the town, choose a grey snake print dress with a brown waist belt and brown heels.
Coco’s style is definitely tailor-made for those looking for an edgy look. Just remember, if you’re looking to Coco for inspiration, think dark colors, boots, and animal print.
